Early in the pandemic, the rate of laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases among Alaska Native / American Indian (ANAI) peoples was assessed in 23 selected states. It was found to be 3.5 times that of non-Hispanic whites. Many of these ANAI individuals also lived in communities with limited access to health care.
